I've just purchased my first set of (albeit a cheap set) of noise-cancelling headphones. I was headed home from lunch for a friend's birthday (Happy 48th, Mike), and got a call from my brother.... it seems he had been on the internet and noticed that Fatwallet.com, a discount shopping site, had listed a set of these wonderful headphones for $15. Being both a tightwad and an opportunist, I turned the mafia-mobile around (96 Deville, 160K) and picked up a set.
It's Monday morning, and I'm now trying them out at Matlock Tire service. As you would expect, there is often a little extra noise here. These things seem to work well - I'm in a cubicle listening to Jackson Browne, and feel like I'm listening on a studio monitor...... nice stuff.
I'm looking forward to using these things next time I'm on a train or a plane during CPE season - they really work. Am going to purchase a background music CD and see if it will help my wife when she tries to work in the living room - she really needs the quiet so she can focus.....
If you travel as a passenger much, these things are a must-have.
